Photography Workshop - The Basics of Portrait Photography for Fun and Profit

Look at the galleries in this website.  This workshop will provide the basics on how to do what you see here.

In order to consistently create good portrait photography, especially the kind of photography that people will buy, there are many things to be learned.  In the 13 years that I have been in photography, I've learned quite a few of these things, and the process is ongoing.  In this workshop series, I intend to teach the participants as many of these little things and big things as I possibly can.  Photographing head shots, personality images, couples, and groups is one of the areas that I intend to cover very thoroughly, both in terms of technical issues such as lighting and posing, and in terms of working with personalities to create vibrant, emotional images.  I will also cover such subjects as lighting equipment and lenses; what f-stop to shoot at; use of umbrellas and soft boxes; use of existing or natural light or photographic light or a combination thereof; use of a tripod or not; to name just a few of the subjects.  We'll use different locations on different days, to simulate the numerous conditions under which the professional photographer is called upon to create portraiture.  I believe that this workshop series will prove to be invaluable to entry-level and intermediate portrait photographers, especially if the intent is to make some money from portraiture.
